Frequently Asked Questions
How much time does bodywork take?
Generally a massage will take 50 minutes depending on the horses condition. Some horses may need to initially start with a shorter time frame if they are recovering from an injury, or have certain health conditions.
How often should my horse get bodywork?
This will depend entirely on the horse, their discipline or job, your goals, and overall condition. Please feel free to ask questions and discuss goals with your massage therapist to determine what is right for you and your horse.
Should I be there when my horse gets bodywork?
For the first massage it is generally preferred you are present. This is to share information about your horse, and set goals with your therapist. The following sessions are up to you. It is nice to be there to see what is being done and ask any questions you have. Be careful, you may experience some second hand relaxation.
Is bodywork only for horses that compete?
Absolutely not! Massage is fantastic for your horse no matter their discipline or current job level. Massage helps get rid of soreness, improves flexibility and performance, and increases blood flow. Massage is important in our aging horses to keep them feeling great into their retirement. Another great benefit is having a touch base and conversation on a regular basis with someone who knows your horse well.
